Nursery Operations

Key objectives

  • Identify and operate nursery sites for deployment of approximately 73 Floating Upwelling Systems (FLUPSYs)

The FLUPSY will be home to the juvenile clams until they are ready to be planted into one of the five designated sanctuary sites. The FLUPSYs pump algae rich water up through the system to feed the clams. By growing out the shellfish in FLUPSY we are able to insure an ample water flow and food supply while removing predation factors. The combination of this allows the clams to grow exponentially.
